Rules of the game

At the beginning of the game, each player is dealt a certain number of cards. In the classic version of Rummy, each player is dealt 13 cards.
Once dealt, the remaining cards are placed face down to form a "pot". Its top card is revealed and placed next to it, beginning the “discard” (this card is called “revealed”).
Players take turns clockwise, starting with the one sitting to the left of the dealer. The turn begins with the player taking the top card of either the "pot" or the discard pile. After that, he can lay out on the table in an open group or straight.
In addition, he can add any possible number of cards to the combinations already on the table, both his own and those of others. The turn ends by discarding one card from the spread face up. If a player starts his turn by taking a card from the discard pile, he cannot put the same card there.
If the pot is empty before any players have left, the discard (without being shuffled) is flipped face down to form a new pot.
A player is out of the game—and wins the game—if he has managed to get rid of all his cards, with or without discarding the last card.
A player leaves with “rummy” if he has laid out all his cards in a combination in one move, without previously making or reporting a single combination.
After a player leaves, the nominal value of all cards remaining with his opponents is summed up and becomes the score of the winner in this round. When you exit with rummy, the score is doubled.
If there are more than two players, the right to deal passes to the next player on the left. With two players, the winner of the round deals in the next one.
The winner of the game is the player who first scores a predetermined number of points.

Cards for Rummy

Depending on the number of players, ramie uses two, three or four decks (two for four or fewer players, three for five and six players, and 4 for seven and eight players).
As a rule, traditional French decks of four suits (spades, clubs, hearts, diamonds) with jokers and 13 ranks (from two to ten plus jack, queen, king and ace) are used.

When calculating, the jack, queen and king are each valued at 10 points, and all other cards are valued at their face value.

Each card in Rummy has its own rank and corresponding value. The cards have the following meanings:

- Numbered cards (2–10): value (for example, 2 has the value of 2, 7 has the value of 7).
- Face cards (jack, queen, king): each face card has a value of 10.
- Ace: An Ace can be counted as either 1 point or 11 points, depending on the player's choice and the requirements of the particular combination being formed.

At the end of each round, players' scores are determined based on the remaining cards in their hands. Each card has a value assigned to it, as described above. Players count the total points on the remaining cards and add them to their score. The goal is to minimize the number of points remaining to reduce the score.

Combinations of the game

Combinations

The main principle of the game is to create and complete combinations on the table. They come in two main types: chains and groups. Each combination earns you points depending on the cards that make it up. Once you have made a combination, it no longer belongs to you, and any of the players can supplement it with suitable cards. To complete a combination means to add one or more cards to the beginning or end of an existing combination. This also earns you points.

Chains

A chain is a combination made up of three or more cards of the same suit and in order, for example, 9, 10 and jack of spades. At your discretion, the ace can follow the king and precede the deuce. Thus, chains such as queen, king, ace and ace, 2, 3 are accepted.

Groups

A group is 3 or 4 cards of the same value collected together, but of different suits. In a group, each suit can only be represented once, so the number of cards is limited to four. For example: 3 hearts, 3 spades and 3 clubs. A group of four cards is sometimes said to be closed, that is, it is impossible to add more to it. You can also find the terms triplet and four of a kind, borrowed from poker, to denote groups of three and four cards, respectively.

Jokers

A joker is a special card that can replace any other card. It can be used when composing a combination if there is no third card for it, but it cannot be used to supplement existing combinations. Once a joker hits the table, it becomes equal to the card it replaces. There can only be one joker in a combination.
Whoever has a card equal to it can pick it up and put the card in its place. The joker obtained in this way must be used to make a new combination before the end of the move. In this case, it will replace a completely different card, different from the previous one.
If the player does not find a use for the joker immediately, he will lose 300 points as a fine. The joker can only be taken away if it is absolutely clear which card it replaces.

For example: Anya made a chain: queen of spades, king of spades and joker. If Bori has the ace of spades, he can take the joker. If he has 7 hearts and 7 diamonds in his hand, he can make a new combination with these three cards.
If Vanya has 7 clubs, then he cannot immediately take the joker, since the situation becomes ambiguous (the joker can replace both 7 clubs and 7 spades). He can simply put his seven of clubs and complete the group with it. To be able to pick up the joker, you need to wait until the 7th of spades appears.

Scoring

Each card, which is part of a new combination or added as an addition to an old one, brings its owner a certain number of points. However, once it is on the table, it belongs to no one else. Typically, points are tallied at the end of the round, and there are several ways to determine who played which cards. In the game room, everything is automatically counted during the game (points are awarded for each combination made).
